![]() Inception, less than a month old, is already a career highlight for almost everyone involved in the production. This leads to an interesting question: what comes after Inception? Cillian Murphy knows the answer; a pleasant retreat. Murphy is set to star alongside Thandie Newton in sci-fi/psychological thriller The Retreat under the guiding hand of first time writer/director Carl Tibbetts. Deadline reports: So we follow up a cerebral sci-fi crime movie with a cerebral sci-fi domestic dispute movie. How adventurous. In all seriousness, though. Cillian Murphy’s a young master of macabre and psychologically tormented characters. He already has experience with ‘locked room’ thrillers and virus pandemics from his work on Red Eye and 28 Days Later respectively. This sounds much more interesting than Red Eye, though. In the linked article a producer compares the film to Roman Polanski’s incredible Knife in the Water; that’s a lot to live up to, but cinema needs more quality thrillers in that vein. I’m excited for this, it sounds right up my alley. But what about you guys? |
